What does it take to get the perfect lawn?

1. Prepare the ground

You should have min. 3 inches of top soil. Level the ground, then roll and compact it. Level again for any soft spots or dips. Reroll - repeat as many times as necessary.  Then you should be good to go. :-)

2. Order your sod

Order your sod a couple of days before you plan on picking it up.

The price is 1.00 CAD per square foot plus gst picked up at the farm.

3. Pick up and bring it home

Pick up your sod at our farm and meet the team who carefully prepared the sod for you.

Bring it to your home and install it.

You want to stagger your sod, like a brick-pattern.

Make sure there are no gaps in between the pieces and they should also not overlap.

At he sides where your sod is not against a wall or any other barrier, you want to build a little barrier with dirt along the edge, to prevent moisture from wicking away.

For best results, you should lay the sod within 12 hours. On the pallet it can be kept for a maximum of 24 hours!

4. Take care of your lawn

Carefully fertilize your new lawn right after laying.

Especially in the first 14 days, your fresh lawn needs special attention until it has taken root.

During this time it must not dry out. Water it frequently until it’s rooted, but don't overwater it (also depending on the weather).

Check the moisture from time to time by lifting the sod and watch it slowly bond with the soil.

Refrain from mowing until your sod rooted.

Fertilize it again after 3-4 weeks.

5. Enjoy!

Most important: enjoy your new beautiful lawn!

Be careful with walking on it before it's rooted (1 - 2 weeks).

And then: have a barbecue, let your kids play on it and enjoy the great feeling when walking barefoot on it.
